Tribals decline to hand over storm victim’s body

Raiganj (WB), Apr 14 (PTI) Tribals of Pandepur village in North Dinajpur district declined to hand over the body of Radhuni Soren, who was killed in today’s severe storm, to the police alleging that they had been harassed last year when Radhuni’s son was killed in a road accident.

Raiganj, March 4: Around 150 lathi-wielding men owing allegiance to the Lok Janshakti Party “hijacked” four buses yesterday after forcing 120 passengers off the vehicles at Kishanganj, making them walk two kilometres with the luggage that had been thrown out of the vehicles.

Raiganj, Feb. 18: Twenty people, including 10 women and two children, were killed when a private bus they were travelling in collided head-on with a sand-laden truck on NH34 at Rahatpur in North Dinajpur district today.

Police said 15 people had died on the spot, while two had succumbed to injuries on the way to the Raiganj district hospital. Three passengers died at the hospital where 27 others are being treated for injuries.
